4 Seed Crackers

These crispy and nutrient-dense, 4-Seed Crackers are perfect for snacking or serving with dips and spreads. Packed with healthy fats, fibre and plant-based protein they’re a delicious way to support your wellness goals.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flax seeds

  • 1 cup boiling water

  • A pinch of salt

  • 2 cups mixed raw seeds (such as pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, hemp hearts)

  • 4 tbls oil (such as extra-virgin olive oil), plus extra for greasing

Instructions

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it with oil.

Prepare the Flax Mixture
In a large mixing bowl combine the flax seeds and boiling water. Stir well and let it sit for 10 minutes until it thickens into a gel-like consistency. This serves as the binding agent for the crackers.

Mix the Ingredients
Add the mixed raw seeds, a pinch of salt and the oil to the flax mixture. Stir thoroughly to ensure all the seeds are evenly coated and combined.

Spread the Mixture
Transfer the seed mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Spread it out evenly with a spatula or the back of a spoon, pressing down firmly to create a thin even layer approximately 4mm (1/8-inch)

Score the Crackers (Optional)
For evenly-sized crackers use a knife or pizza cutter to lightly score the mixture into your desired cracker shape. This will make them easier to break apart after baking.

Bake the Crackers
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the crackers feel firm to the touch.

Cool and Break Apart
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the crackers cool completely on a wire rack. Once cool, either break them along the scored lines or into irregular pieces.

Store
Store the crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
